Restoring earth, from the seed up
A seed module built to restart the world.
WHY?
The forests are shrinking.
We're losing them faster than we can replant them — and the way we replant hasn't changed in decades.
WHY?
- 01Conversion of forests
- 02Forest fires
- 03Fuelwood harvesting
- 04Mining
- 05Logging activities
- 06Natural disasters & climate change

The economic, environmental and social costs of forest loss are rising, yet tree planting has seen little innovation. TreeGro aims to cut the cost and time of reforestation.
In Canada the biggest threats are wildfires and insects. By reducing labour, time and money, we can plant in areas with no reclamation plans yet.
The restoration module
Everything a seed needs, in one module.
Protects
- Shields seeds from light
- Wildlife & insect deterrent available
Hydrates
- Hygroscopic gel matrix holds water at the seed
- Expands with water (± 40×)
- Increased water storage
Feeds
- Nutrient, pH & microbiome mix built in
Disappears
- Dissolves in water — disappears over time

How it works
However the water arrives.
The module does the rest.

3″ of root in 42 days.
That's the same root length as a one-year-old nursery-grown seedling — grown straight from seed, in the module.
Advantages
R&D geared toward drought-tolerant seedlings with stronger roots.
01
Economical
Lower costs across site prep, labour and time.
02
Simple planting
The module gets to where it should go — planted by hand or machine.
03
Grown in place
Natural development in situ, straight from seed.
04
Stress-ready
Physiologically better adapted to environmental stress.
05
Starts sooner
Plant over a burn site sooner — no greenhouse lead time. Reforestation starts sooner.
06
Fed from the start
Built-in nutrients get each seedling started.
Site testing
Modules were placed in the field. Here are some of our findings.
